Abstract

Die deutschsprachige Soziologie hat dem Interaktionismus bisher relativ wenig Beachtung geschenkt. Zwar ist der Symbolische Interaktionismus zentraler Bestandteil des Lehrprogramms einer jeden Theorieveranstaltung, doch bleiben theoretische und empirische Entwicklungen des Interaktionismus, die über die Arbeiten von George Herbert MEAD und Herbert BLUMER hinausgehen, häufig unberücksichtigt. Jörg STRÜBINGs Buch rekonstruiert die Entwicklung des Interaktionismus und erläutert seine Bedeutung für die jüngere Wissenschafts- und Technikforschung. Zudem weist er auf die Relevanz von Diskussionen und Debatten in der Wissenschafts- und Technikforschung für die soziologische Theorie hin. Das Buch ist somit nicht nur für diejenigen von Interesse, die im Bereich Wissenschafts- und Technikforschung arbeiten, sondern leistet auch einen Beitrag zur soziologischen Theorieentwicklung. Es wäre zu wünschen, dass es nicht nur Eingang in die Leselisten der Technik- und Wissenschaftssoziologie findet, sondern auch zu einer weiten Verbreitung des pragmatistischen Interaktionismus beiträgt.

There is a curious ignorance of interactionist theory and research in German sociology. Whilst Symbolic Interactionism plays a central role in courses on social theory, such courses often neglect more recent interactionist concepts and studies. Jörg STRÜBING's book introduces some of these concepts and ideas to German sociology by revealing their contribution to science and technology research and to social theory. The book explains in detail the development of interactionism and its contribution to science and technology studies. It is of interest to those studying science and technology research as well as to those interested in social theory. It should be added to reading lists of courses on science and technology studies and should contribute to the wider dissemination of interactionist theories and studies as well as to interactionist science and technology research.

Hay una curiosa ignorancia de la teoría y la investigación interaccionista en la sociología alemana. Mientras que el interaccionismo simbólico tiene un papel central en los cursos sobre teoría social, esos mismos cursos suelen desatender muchos de los recientes conceptos y estudios interaccionistas. El libro de Jörg STRÜBING introduce algunos de esos conceptos e ideas en la sociología alemana, revelando su contribución en la teoría social y en la investigación en ciencia y tecnología.
