Eltern von Kindern mit Beeinträchtigungen - Unterstützungsbedarfe und Hinweise auf Inklusionshürden

Abstract

Die Studie untersucht auf Basis einer umfangreichen Elternbefragung die verschiedenen Herausforderungen, Unterstützungs- und Inklusionsbedarfe von Familien mit beeinträchtigten bzw. behinderten Kindern. Die Probleme und Einschränkungen im Familienalltag sowie Ansätze zu ihrer Lösung bzw. zumindest für eine bessere Unterstützung werden aus der Angehörigenperspektive beschrieben. Die verschiedenen Beeinträchtigungen und damit verbundene Einschränkungen von Alltagsaktivitäten wurden dabei in Anlehnung an die Internationale Klassifikation der Funktionsfähigkeit, Behinderung und Gesundheit (ICF) erhoben. Die Studie "Eltern von Kindern mit Beeinträchtigungen" enthält vielfältige Ergebnisse zur Lebenssituation von Familien mit beeinträchtigten bzw. behinderten Kindern, zur inklusiven Bildung und Betreuung, zum Verhalten des sozialen Umfelds sowie zu Erfahrungen mit der Beantragung und Bewilligung von Unterstützungsleistungen.

"Parents of children with impairments - support needs and indicators of barriers to inclusion" is a research project that examines the various challenges, support and inclusion needs of the children concerned throughout their different stages of life and of their families from the perspective of their family members. Interviews were conducted with parents, or individuals in a parental role, with at least one child, adolescent or young adult aged up to 25 years with a special need, care or support need that has lasted at least six months living in their household. The various impairments and the resulting limitations in everyday life for parents and children were recorded in a large-scale quantitative survey based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). In addition, parents were asked in in-depth focus group discussions about urgent courses of action, which should be addressed to federal, state and local governments as well as society in general, in order to improve the situation for children and parents. The study contains a wide range of results on the living situation of families with impaired or disabled children, the search for and use of inclusive education and care services, the behaviour of the social environment as well as experiences with applying for and receiving support services.
