Junge Menschen in stationären Erziehungshilfeeinrichtungen sollen dort auf ein selbstständiges Leben vorbereitet werden. Die Relevanz digitaler Medien im Kontext von Verselbstständigungsprozessen wird jedoch bislang in der Heimerziehungsforschung weder reflektiert noch erforscht. Hier knüpft der vorliegende Beitrag an und rekonstruiert im Rahmen einer Grounded-Theory-Studie unter Rückgriff auf Daten aus dem BMBF-Projekt 'DigiPäd 24/7 - Digitalisierung in Heimen und Internaten' erstmals aus einer (medien-)sozialisatorischen und subjektorientierten Perspektive, wie sich junge Menschen im Kontext der Heimunterbringung mit Bezug auf und über Medien verselbstständigen. Im Ergebnis bewegen und vollziehen sich die medienbezogenen Verselbstständigungsprozesse der jungen Menschen relational zur Umwelt in wechselseitig aufeinander bezogenen ko-konstruktiven Aktivitäten innerhalb eines komplexen sozialräumlichen Bedingungsgefüges und in Wechselbeziehung zwischen verschiedenen Mikrosystemen wie Familie, Peers und Heim.... view less

Residential child and youth care institutions are supposed to prepare young people for an independent life. However, the relevance of digital media in the context of processes of transition to independence has not yet been reflected or researched in residential child and youth care research. This is where the present article takes its starting point: Drawing from data from the BMBF-funded project 'DigiPäd 24/7 - Digitalization in Children's and Youth Homes and Boarding Schools', it reconstructs - for the first time from a socializatory and subject-oriented perspective - how young people in residential child and youth care become independent in relation to and via the media. One result of the study, which is based on grounded theory, shows that the media-related processes of transition to independence of young people take place in relation to the environment in mutually interrelated co-constructive activities within a complex socio-spatial conditional framework and in interrelation between different microsystems such as family, peers and care institution.... view less
