The preceding contributions to this special issue bring together, from different angles, research on infrastructures with the currently urgent concern of transforming our societies with a view to achieving greater sustainability of modes of production and living. This closing essay does not add further analyses but rather reflects on proposed conceptualizations and the rich array of examples for investigated infrastructures. This is done with a view towards understanding what can and what cannot be accomplished in terms of enhancing possibilities for sustainability in the Anthropocene by analyzing infrastructures and their transformations.
