A preliminary review of the still little advanced research leads to the thesis that digital technologies, for all their diversity in data production, hardly meet the complexity of the matching task. Technology development has been based on access to single sources of information, but has paid scant attention to the practice of recruiting. Digital and established players in the employment industry are responding to the resulting problem of integrating procedures with cooperation and acquisition strategies and are showing efforts to professionalise and enrich their services. This interpretation of the technological change in recruitment work suggests multiple development paths of digitalisation and the platform economy and encourages more comparative research.... view less
