 The article sheds light on the fate of Alexander Frison, a German from Russia who had been studying theology and philosophy at the Germanicum in Rome. In 1926, he was secretly ordained bishop in the Soviet Union, where church repression seriously threatened the hierarchy, church representatives and lay members. After several arrests, Frison was ultimately sentenced to death by a closed Stalinist trial accusing him for 'anti-Soviet activities' and shot.
