On the other hand, the largely authoritarian regimes of the immigrants' home countries did not tolerate criticism, especially in such "guestworker radio programmes". This conflict ultimately provoked severe tensions both on a diplomatic level and within German society. Despite these political difficulties, the different forms of guestworker media continued to operate, focusing primarily on the social aspects of immigrant life.... view less
