La familia se constituye al mismo tiempo como laboratorio donde se experimentan muchos de los cambios sociales que afectan a toda la sociedad, pero también como un catalizador básico de la transformación social. Conocer las opiniones de los españoles sobre sus cuestiones más relevantes, y su evolución en el tiempo, permite descubrir nuevas imágenes que indican la dirección del cambio social. A través de las diversas oleadas del International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) y de las encuestas del Ministerio de Asuntos Sociales se pueden conocer estas tendencias. Los resultados indican la permanencia de una cultura familiarista española peculiar, cómo los cambios estructurales en la posición social de la mujer no son suficientes para avanzar rápidamente en la corresponsabilización, y cómo el estancamiento de la fecundidad tiene su explicación no solo en la ausencia de políticas de apoyo, sino sobre todo en no saber entender nuestra cultura familiar.... view less

Family can be considered as a laboratory where many of the social changes that affect the whole society are experienced and take place. But it can also be considered as a basic catalyst of social transformation. These trends can be studied using the different International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) waves and the surveys by the Social Affairs Ministry. The results show the continuity of a peculiar Spanish culture of familialism. They also show how structural changes in the social position of the women are not enough to rapidly make progress in co-responsibility, and how the stagnation of fertility is explained, not just by the lack of supportive family policies, but mostly by the fact that our family culture is not well understood.... view less
