Der Beitrag rekonstruiert die Geschichte des Seminars für Deutsche Altertums- und Volkskunde, das 1919 zu den Gründungsfächern der Universität Hamburg gehörte. Im Zentrum stehen Akteure, Positionen und Perspektiven sowie Kontinuitäten und Brüche der sogenannten "Hamburger Schule" (1919-1973).
