Care Leaver*innen stellen weltweit eine besonders vulnerable und benachteiligte Gruppe junger Menschen dar. Bislang sind jedoch kaum international vergleichende Studien vorhanden, die gesetzliche Regelungen für Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten und Hilfeformen für junge Menschen in den Blick nehmen. Der Beitrag greift diese Forschungslücke auf und untersucht gesetzliche Rahmenbedingungen, sowie das Vorhandensein von Care Leaver-Selbstvertretungen, in 36 Ländern Amerikas, Europas, Asiens, Afrikas und Australiens. Care-leavers - those transitioning from alternative care towards young adult-hood - are widely recognisedas a vulnerable population, yet child protection legislation seldom provides for them once they have reached adulthood. Despite this, little international comparative research on care-leaving policy and legislation has been conducted. This article maps multinational policy and legislation across 36 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. It also identifies the existence of care-leaver organizations in these countries. Findings reveal considerable differences between countries but few aftercare supports worldwide.... view less
