Les "déménageurs de la décolonisation" dépoussièrent et renouvellent l'opéra L'Africaine de Giacomo Meyerbeer

Abstract

À l'Opéra de Halle (Allemagne), L'Africaine (1865), grand opéra de Giacomo Meyerbeer, a été revisité par une équipe euro-africaine pour la saison 2018/19. L'objectif de la mise-en-scéne interculturelle était de remettre en question l'héritage colonial de l’opéra et de tenter une "africanisation" de l'œuvre. Le résultat de cette réinterprétation a été présenté au public en quatre étapes de septembre 2018 à juin 2019. Dans l'échange présenté ici, le metteur en scène et artiste performeur Lionel Poutiaire Somé ainsi que les conseillers dramatiques Michael von zur Mühlen et Philipp Amelungsen (Opéra de Halle) mettent en lumière ce processus de création et ses défis interculturels. Giacomo Meyerbeer's Grand opéra L'Africaine was radically restaged at the opera of Halle (Germany) in 2018/19. The European-African team aimed at questioning the opera's colonial heritage, attempting an "africanization" of the play. The results of this process were presented to the public in four stages from September 2018 to June 2019. In this interview, the director and performer Lionel Poutiaire Somé and the dramatic advisors Michael von zur Mühlen and Philipp Amelungsen (Halle Opera) give insights in the production process and talk about the intercultural challenges linked to it. The interview was conducted by Natascha Ueckmann and Christoph Vatter (Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg) at the Halle Opera House in March 2019.
