Gesundheitspädagogik im Medium visualisierter Messungen: eine rekonstruktive Studie von Messpraktiken in der betrieblichen Gesundheitsförderung

Abstract

Visualisierungen dienen innerhalb medizinischer Messungen als Medium der Vermittlung und Kontextualisierung von Messresultaten. Über das betriebliche Gesundheitsmanagement (BGM), das unter Gesundheitsförderung auch die Erzeugung von Gesundheitskompetenz subsumiert, haben solche Messungen und ihre Visualisierungen in Arbeitskontexte Einzug gehalten. Der These folgend, dass jene Visualisierungen kontextabhängig und interpretationsbedürftig sind, stellen wir die Frage, wie Messungen und Visualisierungen im BGM (pädagogisch) gerahmt werden, und wie die Akteure damit umgehen. Im Anschluss an betrieblich organisierte Herzratenvariabilitätsmessungen wurden drei MitarbeiterInnen und der durchführende Messexperte narrativ interviewt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die TeilnehmerInnen die Messung vor dem Hintergrund ihrer Gesundheitsorientierungen unterschiedlich erfahren: als Wettbewerb, als etwas Empörendes und der ärztlichen Vergewisserung Bedürftiges und als etwas, das Ohnmacht hervorruft. Zusammenfassend ließ sich zeigen, dass die Ambiguität von Messresultaten im Messprozess unzureichend thematisiert wurde, und dass die verwendeten Visualisierungen für die TeilnehmerInnen eine weit höhere Bedeutung besaßen als die mündlichen Kontextualisierungen des Messexperten. Ein Umstand, der vom Messexperten nicht berücksichtigt wurde, und der in Bezug auf Ergebnisvisualisierung messethische Reflexionen angeraten erscheinen lässt.

Within medical measurements, visualizations serve as a medium for communicating and contextualizing measurement results. By way of occupational health management, subsuming health promotion and the acquisition of health literacy, such measurements and their visualizations found their way into working contexts. Following the thesis that these visualizations are context-dependent and need to be interpreted, this article raises the question of how measurements and visualizations in occupational health management are (pedagogically) framed and how the actors deal with them. Referring to these questions, three employees of an educational organization, who participated in a company-organized heart rate variability (HRV) measurement, as well as the operating measurement expert, were interviewed narratively. The results show that the participants have experienced the measurement differently in the context of their health orientations: as a challenge, as something shocking, which required the validation of a doctor and as something that causes helplessness. In summary, the authors were able to show that the ambiguity of measurement results was insufficiently discussed in the measurement process, and that the participants have attached a far greater importance to the visualizations than to the oral contextualizations of the measurement expert. A fact that has not been taken into account by the measurement expert and that, in the context of health-educative measurements with visualizations of results on behalf of occupational health management, makes ethical reflections seem advisable.
