Cruel Optimism: Träume am Ende der Zukunft

Abstract

Der Autor wertet in seiner Langzeitforschung Zukunftsträume von Hauptschüler*innen und deren Realisierungspotenzial aus. Über diesen Zugang erschließt er objektive und subjektive Voraussetzungen dafür, sich einen Platz und Teilhabe im sozialen und kulturellen Raum abzustecken, und macht auf die strukturelle Benachteiligung von Hauptschüler*innen aufgrund ihrer Positionierung abseits der gesellschaftlich geltenden Bildungsnorm aufmerksam. Der Autor analysiert die Träume dieser Gruppe auf ihre Spezifik in der Imagination von Zukunft. Dabei reflektiert er die konstitutive Rolle von Hoffnung und Optimismus.

This article is based on long-term research conducted concerning ‘dreams of the future’ of disadvantaged pupils at a secondary school. He analyses the dreams of this group to find out about their imaginations of the ‘future’ and reflects on the constitutive role of hope and optimism. With this method the author manages to identify conditions for participation and claiming a stake in society.
