This article discusses current research at the intersection of feminist research and science & technology studies (STS), focussing specifically on work that deals with current developments in the field of the "sciences of the artificial", such as robotics and AI. In these fields, the shifting border between nature and artifice is being renegotiated. The central thesis is that, with the rise of information sciences and technologies, concepts of human/machine mixings and their socio-material foundations have gained new relevance. Accordingly, the text discusses feminist analyses of human/machine relations, their material and metaphorical foundations, assumptions that predominate in the technosciences and the politics of difference. Ultimately, it raises questions around both responsible knowledge production and the conditions and possibilities of a critical exchange between feminist STS and current technoscientific projects.... view less
