Die Verlockung des Virtuellen: Reorganisation von Arbeit unter Bedingungen der Informatisierung, Digitalisierung und Virtualisierung

Abstract

Der aktuelle Wandel von Arbeit und Organisation ist eng verknüpft mit einer fortschreitenden Informatisierung und der Entstehung eines Informationsraums. Als eine spezifische Form der Informatisierung gewinnt die Virtualisierung von Entitäten an Bedeutung. In der Automobilentwicklung zeigt sie sich im Einsatz von 3D-CAD-Software und virtueller Prototypen, die genutzt werden, um Funktionalitäten von echten Prototypen zu testen, bevor diese überhaupt gebaut werden. Dadurch verändert sich die Organisation von Ingenieursarbeit tief greifend und die neuen Möglichkeiten sind verlockend: Entwicklungsarbeit scheint räumlich und zeitlich flexibel zu werden, anytime - anyplace. Eine ortsunabhängige Reorganisation scheint in greifbare Nähe zu rücken, bekannte Muster der Technikeuphorie und Managementutopien werden reaktiviert. In den vier Fallstudien, auf die sich dieser Beitrag bezieht, werden vor allem drei Dimensionen an Widersprüchen sichtbar: Erstens mit Blick auf das Verhältnis von physischen und virtuellen Prototypen und Simulationen, zweitens in Bezug auf brüchige globale Kooperationen sowie drittens hinsichtlich der Standardisierung von Arbeit.

Current changes of work and organization are strongly affected by increasing informatization and the emergence of an information space. Specifically, the virtualization of entities (such as physical objects) is gaining in importance in automotive engineering, where virtual prototypes are used to simulate functions of the part before a physical prototype is built. The nature of engineering work changes deeply and the new possibilities are luring: Engineering work seems to become flexible in a spatial and timely manner, anytime - anyplace. A location-independent reorganization seems to be a reachable goal. Four case studies in the automotive industry using a qualitative approach have been conducted. One can find mainly three discrepancies regarding informatization, digitization and virtualization issues: first, in view of the relation between physical and virtual prototypes and simulation; second, referring to a fragile global cooperation and thirdly, in the standardization of work.
