In Auseinandersetzung mit dem Artikel von Andreas Boes und Tobias Kämpf betont der Kommentar die örtliche Verankerung angeblich "virtueller" IT-Arbeit, die Ungleichmäßigkeit der Branchenentwicklung in verschiedenen Weltregionen und schließlich die Uneinheitlichkeit der Erfahrungen von Beschäftigten mit der Internationalisierung der IT-Branche. Basierend auf eigener Forschung zu IT-Arbeit zwischen Deutschland und Indien deuten die Autoren an, in welche Richtung weiterzudenken wäre, wenn der Fokus nicht nur auf IT-Beschäftigte in Deutschland gerichtet sein soll.... view less

While addressing the article from Andreas Boes and Tobias Kämpf, this commentary underlines the local rootedness of supposedly "virtual" IT-work, the heterogeneity of the sector's development in different world regions and, finally, the marked differences between employees' experiences with the sector's internationalisation. Drawing upon their own research on IT-work between Germany and India, the authors propose a future direction which may be followed in order to extend the focus of research beyond IT-professionals in Germany.... view less
