Die globalisierte Welt ist durch vielfältige Formen transnationaler Politik gekennzeichnet - zu diesen zählt zweifelsohne die NGO-Förderung, vor allem in Ländern des globalen Südens. Der vorliegende Aufsatz befasst sich mit den zivilgesellschaftlichen Effekten derartiger Interaktionen und fragt nach einem geeigneten analytischen Vokabular zu ihrer Deutung. Es wird gezeigt, inwiefern sich Michel Foucaults Studien zur Geschichte der Gouvernementalität dazu eignen, eine Vorstellung "globaler Gouvernementalität" zu entwickeln, die in der Lage ist, die ambivalenten zivilgesellschaftlichen Effekte neuerer Formen transnationaler Politik umgreifend und kritisch zu fassen.... view less

The globalized world is characterized by various forms of transnational politics - of particular importance among these is the support of NGOs, especially with regard to countries in the global South. This article addresses the effects of such interactions on civil society and asks for suitable analytical tools to interpret such effects. It shows that Michel Foucault's lectures on the history of governmentality allow us to develop a notion of "global governmentality". This notion enables us to grasp the ambivalent effects of transnational politicson civil society in a broad and critical way.... view less
