| de |
dc.description.abstract | In 2008, Barack Obama rode on a "wave of change" into the White House. Elected with a mandate for lasting change, he promised to implement transformative reforms while conducting politics in a whole new way using methods of community organizing and internet participation. But institutional barriers proved to be stronger: While some legislative projects were passed, many others stalled in Congress - and Obama’s political fortune did too. Since the Midterm elections of 2010 produced huge Republican gains, American politics is trapped in legislative gridlock. This article shows how organizing as a strategy for political mobilization and participation evolved, how the Obama administration applied it and what can be learned from this process. | de |
