2015 wählten das Burgenland, die Steiermark, Oberösterreich und Wien neue Landtage. Über die regionalen Besonderheiten hinweg lassen sich allgemeine Trends finden: So verloren vor allem SPÖ und ÖVP in unterschiedlichem Ausmaß Stimmen, während insbesondere die FPÖ zulegte und in allen vier Bundesländern ihr bestes Ergebnis in der Zweiten Republik erreichte. Thematisch waren vor allem die Wahlen in Oberösterreich und Wien vom Flüchtlingsthema bestimmt, die Wahl in der Steiermark wurde zudem zu einer Entscheidung über die so genannte Reformpartnerschaft im Bundesland stilisiert. Der Artikel zeichnet eine kurze Chronik des Wahljahres, stellt die wesentlichen Befunde der Wahlforschung dar und versucht diese in einen längerfristigen Kontext einzuordnen.... view less

In 2015, state parliaments were elected in Burgenland, Styria, Upper Austria, and Vienna. Aside from regional considerations and ramifications, some general trends could be found. Primarily, the Social Democratic Party and the People’s Party lost votes across all four states, whereas the Freedom Party reached their best results since the end of World War II. The elections, in early summer, were mostly characterized by internal and regional policies, the Styrian election, for example, was declared as a decision on the so called reform partnership. In autumn, the elections in Upper Austria and Vienna stood in a completely different light, as the ongoing arrival of refugees reached its peak. This article gives a chronicle overview of the election year 2015, includes substantial results of election research and focuses on integrating them into a longer-term context.... view less
