'While the West European 'New Right' has been, so far, only to a limited degree successful in its attempt to attain cultural hegemony in the EU, during the last decade, a similar Russian movement under its intellectual leader Alexander Dugin has, through 'political mimicry,' managed to intrude deeply into the discourse of the political and academic mainstream of the Russian Federation. In doing so, the term 'Eurasianism' functions as a cover for an abstruse anti-liberal, especially anti-American body of theories containing basic features of fascist ideology. Since the end of the last century, Dugin has been successful in getting major representatives of the Russian civil society, mass media, social sciences, political establishment and ministerial bureaucracy interested in his ideas and affiliated to his organization.'
