The essay provides us with insights on the implications of modernity for Latinamerican societies in general and for the Mexican in particular. It deals with the critical reconstruction of the notion of modernity, inherent in Octavio Paz’s political conception. Thus, supported by the poet, a thesis is advanced regarding the necessary character of the plural dimensions of space and time, of the historical awareness of our societies to reflect upon and assume the concept of modernity and, in this sense, to ponder on the latter’s specific notion today in our country.... view less
