El retraso del reloj latinoamericano

Abstract

El artículo se aboca a partir de la reflexión sobre el significado de la modernidad para las sociedades latinoamericanas en general y para la mexicana en particular, a la reconstrucción critica de la concepción de modernidad inherente en la reflexión política de Octavio Paz. De tal forma, junto con el poeta se avanza en la propuesta de la necesaria reconfirmación de las pluralidades espacio-temporales, de la historicidad de nuestras sociedades, para pensar y asumir el concepto de modernidad y, en ese sentido, discurrir en la especificidad que dicha noción adquiere hoy día en nuestro país.

The essay provides us with insights on the implications of modernity for Latinamerican societies in general and for the Mexican in particular. It deals with the critical reconstruction of the notion of modernity, inherent in Octavio Paz’s political conception. Thus, supported by the poet, a thesis is advanced regarding the necessary character of the plural dimensions of space and time, of the historical awareness of our societies to reflect upon and assume the concept of modernity and, in this sense, to ponder on the latter’s specific notion today in our country.
