Antecedentes teóricos de la etnometodología y el interaccionismo simbólico

Abstract

En este artículo teórico retrospectivo -producto de una investigación más amplia-, la autora se centra en el estudio y análisis de las potencialidades explicativas de la sociología de la vida cotidiana. En él se pretende ubicar los antecedentes de dos escuelas fundamentales en el estudio del mundo ordinario: la etnometodología y el interaccionismo simbólico. Para ello, la autora organiza su escrito en torno a tres apartados: en el primero se ubican la fenomenología y la filosofía del lenguaje ordinario como las dos grandes vertientes teóricas cuya convergencia dará origen a la etnometodología. En el segundo, se presentan los antecedentes teóricos del interaccionismo simbólico y sus principales postulados. Finalmente, en el tercer apartado se presentan los estudios de la conversación como resultado de las mutuas influencias entre la etnometodología y el interaccionismo simbólico.

In this retrospective theoretical article -a product of a broader investigation- the author focuses in the study and analysis of the explanatory potential of everyday life sociology. In it, the author tries to position the backgrounds of two fundamental schools in the study of the ordinary world: ethnomethodology and symbolic interactionism. To that effect, the paper is organized around three sections: the first positions the phenomenology and the philosophy of ordinary language as the two main theoretical streams and their convergence gives birth to ethnomethodology. In the second, she presents the tehoretical background of symbolic interactionism and its main propositions. Finally, in the third section, the studies of conversation as a result of the mutual influence between both, ethnomethodology and symbolic interactionism, are presented.
