Gestalt(ung) des Coming-out: lesbische und schwule Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene in der Ökonomie der Sichtbarkeit

Abstract

Coming-out stellt insbesondere für lesbische und schwule Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene eine relevante Aushandlung mit Umfeld und Welt dar. Der Beitrag untersucht das Erleben und Gestalten dieser Praxis. Die Sekundäranalyse 19 problemzentrierter Interviews zeigt, dass Coming-out als Problem des Spektakels hervorhebender Dramatisierung und des unausweichlichen Drucks gedeutet wird. Strategien der Heteronormalisierung, der Usurpation und der Aussetzung der Seinsrelation reagieren auf diese Problematisierungen und setzen sie teilweise außer Kraft. Die Fallstricke der Sichtbarkeit als Politikum, Authentizitätsanforderung und unhintergehbare Tatsache verweisen dabei auf eine gesellschaftliche Wandlung - eine Transformation der Ökonomie der Sichtbarkeit. Trotz - oder gerade wegen - der Vielzahl sich outender Stars und Aktivist_innen, Familien- und Freundschaftserzählungen sind nicht Lesbisch- und Schwul-Sein selbstverständlicher geworden, sondern die Praxis des Comingouts. Der Akt der Herstellung von Sichtbarkeit hat eine Eigenständigkeit entwickelt und ist nun selbst Zeichen der Homosexualität.

Coming out represents a relevant negotiation with the social environment and the world for lesbian and gay adolescents and young adults in particular. The article focusses on how this practice is experienced and shaped. Secondary analyses of 19 problem-centred interviews indicate that coming out is interpreted as a problematic dramatization of an event and as the inevitable pressure to come out. Some of the interviewees reacted to their problematization by adopting the strategies of hetero-normalization, usurpation and the negation of an identitarian relation. The requisition of visibility as a political practice, authentic self-display and indisputable fact suggest that society is undergoing change - a transformation of the "economy of visibility". Despite - or because of - the countless outings of activists and stars, the narratives of families and friends, it is not being lesbian or gay which is now taken as a matter of course, but the practice of coming out. The act of becoming visible has itself become the signum of homosexuality.
