The author analyzes in this article the paradoxical evolution of the General Confederacy of Labor (Confederación General del Trabajo) (CGT). On one side, its leading role within the opposition during the government of Raúl Alfonsín: on the other as a force in an incipient weakening process at the interior of the Partido justicialista (PJ) within the frame of the victory of the fraction "peronismo renovador"(peronism renovated).
