The purpose of this article is to define the journalistic discourse as a political discourse. The author parts from the theory that the newspaper exceeds a merely referential level, proper to its informative function, and builds an argumentative discourse of events, thereby being political. Said discourse seems credible to the reader because of the strategies used in the usage of language, by the elaboration of pages that imply an action of selection and hierarchization of information and by the treatment of argumentation in the construction of journalistic discourse. It emphasizes the inter disciplinary perspective to conjugate the theory of journalism, its linguistics, communication, sociology, political discourse, analysis of the discourse and, especially, the studies on journalistic discourse of the theory of argumentation by the Swiss School of Neuchatel with Jean-Blaise Grize and Georges Vignaux.... weniger
