The criminal justice system relies increasingly on psychiatric and psychological expert witnesses in questions concerning incarceration, loosening of restrictions and releases from forensic psychiatry and imprisonment. as well as responsibility for their actions. The system of constraint defines exactly the professional roles for expert witnesses and inmates to be evaluated. The expectations of society and courts, the fear of making mistakes and an economic dependency of expert witnesses are rarely reflected and discussed in the professional community.
