%X The article focuses on the speaker position of the German Gangsta-Rapper with a migrational background from a cultural sociological perspective. We thereby concentrate on the subject’s performative opportunities within a normative subcultural discourse that is embedded in larger sociocultural discourses. In this context we consider Gangsta Rap a) as a popcultural stage and b) as a place of competition where the protagonists establish themselves with reference to socially grounded stereotype attributions. On the one hand we interpret the image- and text based rap performances as a result of the interplay of social categories (gender, ethnicity and class). On the other hand the aestheticized performances themselves have an impact on society: they promote a polarizing discussion. %C DEU %G de %9 Zeitschriftenartikel %W GESIS - http://www.gesis.org %~ SSOAR - http://www.ssoar.info
