Alors que l'Inde n'a longtemps joué qu'un rôle secondaire dans la politique étrangère de la France, les décideurs politiques et les entrepreneurs français s'intéressent de plus en plus à ce pays. La nouvelle dynamique des relations franco-indiennes, qui se traduit avant tout par l'institutionnalisation d'un partenariat stratégique, est liée aussi bien à l'importance croissante de l'Inde sur la scène internationale qu'à la nouvelle image de l’Inde en France. Les secteurs porteurs de la coopération bilatérale sont l'aéronautique, le nucléaire civil et la défense, ainsi que plus récemment les questions de développement durable. De plus, la France plaide pour que l'Inde soit davantage représentée dans la gouvernance mondiale. Malgré l'intensification de cette coopération, il reste un grand potentiel, en particulier dans le développement des relations commerciales entre les deux pays. While foreign relations between India and France have been long ignored, they have increasingly gained attention from companies and policy makers. This reevaluation of the relationship between India and France is best exemplified via the institutionalization of their strategic partnership, and is a direct reflection of the growing global importance of India as well as of changing perceptions of India in France. The aerospace, nuclear and defense industries and, most recently, problems of sustainable development are the primary sectors in bilateral co-operation. France has become an important advocate of India in international institutions. Despite the intensification of relations there is still great potential for collaboration, in particular concerning the development of bilateral trade agreements. The free trade agreement between India and the EU, planned for 2011, could lead to an increase in trade between the two regions.... view less
