The index-programmes of the Tubingen University System for Text-Processing Programmes (TUSTEP) are not only suitable for drawing up of indexes ready for the press when publishing manuscripts. The module-character of TUSTEP also forms them into a tool which can be employed for the analysis of texts (linguistic statistics, lexicography, retrieval of data-bases). The use of TUSTEP index-programmes is demonstrated by three basic examples: In the first example an index of word forms is made out with references and frequencies. The second example shows the drawing up of a selected subject-matter index belonging to a continous text. And in the third example a KWIC-index (Key Word In Context) of key words is produced from the entries of a bibliography (format of a database).... view less
