Una ventana epistémica a la (inter) subjetividad: las potencialidades del método etnográfico

Abstract

Este artículo muestra el potencial metodológico que tienen la subjetividad e intersubjetividad propias del método etnográfico. Para ello se debate sobre los fundamentos ontológicos y epistemológicos de un procedimiento cualitativo que ha trascendido fronteras disciplinarias. El artículo pone especial énfasis en las dos características del método: Por una parte, la flexibilidad en el proceder de la investigación; y, por la otra, el establecimiento de una situación etnográfica intersubjetiva que permite construir datos que, captando la perspectiva emic, nutre la interpretación del/la investigador/a (etic). Finalmente, considerando esta situación etnográfica se propone una herramienta reflexiva que permita controlar la subjetividad propia y, con ello, captar la huella de los otros.

In this article, I illustrate the methodological potential of using the ethnographic method in exploring subjectivity and intersubjectivity. I discuss the ontological and epistemological foundations of a qualitative procedure based in ethnographic situations (interaction with informants and shared construction of data) that have spread beyond disciplinary boundaries. I emphasize two characteristics of the method: the flexibility in the context of investigation, and the establishment of an inter-subjective ethnographic situation that allows the construction of data, which, capturing the emic perspective enriches, the interpretation of the researcher, etic perspective. Finally, considering this ethnographic situation it is proposed as a reflective tool that allows researchers to control their own subjectivity in order to reach the subjectivity of others. In diesem Beitrag veranschauliche ich die methodologischen Potenziale der ethnografischen Methode zur Erforschung von Subjektivität und Intersubjektivität. Hierzu diskutiere ich zunächst die ontologische und epistemologische Grundlegung qualitativer Verfahren in ethnografischen Situationen (im Besonderen die Interaktion mit Feldteilnehmer/innen und die gemeinsame Datenproduktion) jenseits von disziplinären Grenzen. Ich behandele dann zwei methodische Charakteristika: die im Kontext der Forschung erforderliche Flexibilität und den Aufbau einer inter-subjektiven ethnografischen Situation als Voraussetzung für die gemeinsamen Datenkonstruktion unter einer emischen und etischen Perspektive. Hiervon ausgehend wird die ethnografische Situation als reflexives Werkzeug verstanden, das Forschenden die Kontrolle der eigenen Subjektivität erlaubt, um sich der Subjektivität der anderen zu nähern.
