Se ofrece una reflexión de la pena de muerte, que parte de premisas esenciales desde la bioética y los derechos humanos. Se plantean algunas generalidades de esta disciplina, dado que orientan a un cuestionamiento respecto al aporte de la ciencia y la tecnología para llevar a cabo "ejecuciones más humanas". Enseguida se recurre a los conceptos de vida, persona y dignidad para enmarcar el argumento en los derechos humanos. Se retoman algunas sentencias de documentos internacionales apelando a un desarrollo del hombre desde la ética: la práctica de la pena máxima, por el contrario, lo retiene. The purpose of this paper is to provide a reflection of the death penalty, based on human rights and essential premises of Bioethics. For that, it's necessary to start with some basics of this discipline, because they motivate to query about the contribution of science and technology directed to "more humane executions". Then the concepts of life, human being and dignity are used to emphasize the argument on human rights. At the end of the paper some principles of International Documents appealing to a development of the man from ethics overview have been discussed.
