Se presenta un primer acercamiento al principio del interés superior del niño en las instituciones asistenciales. Considera una serie de entrevistas y notas de campo de dos estas instituciones del centro de México para explicitar cómo es que sus profesionales conciben el principio, plantean su aplicación con los niños internados y lo vinculan con temas como la familia y la educación. Muestra que este principio está fuertemente vinculado con ideas tradicionales de la infancia que terminan por acotarlo y posicionan la voz de los profesionales. Concluye con tres posibles consecuencias para los niños internados: considerarlos como sujetos de protección, estigmatizarlos y dejarlos al albedrío de los adultos.... view less

This paper presents a first approach to a principle for the best interest of the child in foster care institutions. It takes into consideration a series of interviews and field notes of these two institutions in central Mexico to explain how its professionals conceive the principle, present its application in children under foster care programs, and link it to issues such as family and education. It shows that this principle is closely linked to traditional ideas of childhood that eventually delimit it and position in it the voice of professionals. It concludes with three possible consequences for institutionalized children: to consider them subjects of protection, to stigmatize them, and to leave them to the will of adults.... view less
