(Autorenreferat)... view less

"Since the turn of the millennium it has been possible to observe a change in the migratory structures that had existed for decades. Positive migration balances are increasingly concentrated in centres in the country, while the surrounding districts are tending to lose ever more population. This trend is generally referred as 're-urbanization'. Investigation using spatial planning criteria demonstrates that the migratory movements should be differentially evaluated. Not every type of positive migration balance can be understood as re-urbanization in the sense of a trend to move back into the city. The overall picture that emerges for Baden-Württemberg is rather one that is characterized by varied, at times opposing, migratory movements so that re-urbanization appears as a selective process. This is true both in terms of the relevant age groups and from a spatial perspective." (author's abstract)... view less
