Interkulturelle Philosophie und Interkulturalität

Abstract

Interkulturelle Philosophie ist eine junge Forschungsrichtung. Die Geschichte sowie einige Hauptvertreter der interkulturellen Philosophie werden in diesem Papier vorgestellt. Nach einer näheren Charakterisierung wird ein Vorschlag zur Erweiterung der interkulturellen Philosophie präsentiert und erörtert. Der Vorschlag zielt darauf ab, Begriffe und Annahmen der Forschung über interkulturelle Kommunikation zu reflektieren. Ferner wird dieser anhand eines Beispiels zu den Begriffen der Kultur und der interkulturellen Kompetenz exemplifiziert. Dabei wird auf Aristoteles in seinen Schriften zur Metaphysik und Ethik rekurriert.

Intercultural philosophy is a young field of research. In this paper, a short history of this field is provided and some major scholars of intercultural philosophy are presented. After an overview of the characteristics of intercultural philosophy, a suggestion is made on extending the current scope of research to include reflections on notions and assumptions of the research on intercultural communication. The suggestion made is discussed and exemplified by the notions of culture and intercultural competence. The suggestion given in this paper refers mainly to Aristotle and his works on metaphysics and ethics.
