(Autorenreferat)... view less

"Focusing on the in recent years intensively led discussion about the developing trend of punitivity among the population, this paper defers to the cognitive relations of the composition of the punitive attitudes. An acknowledged but one-sided basis phrases the idea that the degree of a person's authoritarian attitude is a decisive predictor for his or her request for punishment. Within the authors' own empirical research, they replicate an expected bivariate mid-level relation between these two designs. However, this relation disappears when tested on behalf of additional covariates, which operationalize efficiency based theories on everyday life. Consequently, authoritarian attitudes only indirectly affect punitive attitudes. This issue the authors accept as an important component of a considerable explanation for the individual request for punishment and its change." (author's abstract)... view less
