Zwischen Neapel und Halifax: die G7, Rußland und die Ukraine vor und auf dem 'Gipfel der Bescheidenheit'

Abstract

'Vom 15. bis 17. Juni 1995 kamen die Staats- und Regierungschefs der führenden Industrieländer (G7) in Halifax zum diesjährigen turnusmäßigen Weltwirtschaftsgipfel zusammen. Zu den Diskussionsthemen gehörte wie in den Vorjahren der Fortgang der internationalen Unterstützung für den ökonomischen Stabilisierungs- und Transformationsprozeß in Rußland sowie der Ukraine. Außerdem ging es wiederum um die Rolle Rußlands als zukünftiger Partner der G7/P8-Staaten. Der vorliegende Bericht analysiert auf der Grundlage offizieller Dokumente sowie der laufenden Berichterstattung der russischen und internationalen Presse den Verlauf der Unterstützungsaktivitäten für Rußland und die Ukraine seit dem Vorjahresgipfel in Neapel sowie die Ergebnisse der Gipfelkonferenz von Halifax.' 'From 15 to 17 June 1995, the heads of state and government of the leading industrial countries (G-7) met in Halifax for this year's economic summit. As in previous years, the topics for discussion included the progress of international support for the economic stabilisation and transformation process in both Russia and Ukraine. Moreover, the question of Russians role as future partner of the G-7/P-8 countries was again on the agenda. On the basis of official documents and ongoing reporting in the Russian and international press, the present report examines the support measures made available to Russia and Ukraine since the previous years's summit in Naples and analyses the results of the summit meeting in Halifax.'
