The aim of this article is to present to previous stages of the EU-Africa partnership on
migration, employment and development, as well as the prospects of the development of this
partcular area of cooperation. The EU-Africa partnership, developed since 2000, becomes a
significant form of dialogue devoted to the issues of sustainable development, peace, security,
environment, and stability. International migration flows are strongly related to all of the abovemenetioned
problems. This fact results that the issues of migration and development becomes a
significant part of the EU-African partnership initiatives. The first part of the article is a brief analysis of the most important problems experienced by the African states in the field of migration, employment and development and its impact on the intercontinental stability, security and the Africa-EU relations. The growing scale of forced migration from Africa becomes a fundamental
cause of many political problems and humanitarian challenges. The growing scale of migrations
from Africa contributes to the economic stagnation of sending countries (e.g. the problem of brain
drain). The article closely examines recent EU-African initiatives devoted to the cooperation in the field of migration and employment, conducted between 2006 and 2014. Another part of the article
draws attention to the activity of the African Union (AU) devoted to the protection and assistance of migrant workers and the members of their families. The last part of the article is focused on the prospects of the intensification of the EU-African cooperation in this particular area.... weniger
