Abstract

"'Grenzen des Wohlfahrtsstaates: Migration und Geschlecht' - so lautete der Titel einer Tagung, die am 26. Juni 2009 an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum vom Lehrstuhl für Soziale Ungleichheit und Geschlecht (Professorin Ilse Lenz) und der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung durchgeführt wurde. Thematisch ging es um die Verteilung von Bildungs- und Arbeitsmarktchancen und die Rolle des Wohlfahrtsstaates unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Aspekte Migration und Geschlecht in ihrem Zusammenwirken als Kategorien komplexer sozialer Ungleichheiten. Ziele der von internationalen ForscherInnen vorgestellten Beiträge waren eine analytische Weiterentwicklung und das Aufzeigen neuer politischer Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten." (Autorenreferat)

"The conference 'Limits of the Welfare-State: Migration and Gender', was held on June 26, 2009, at the Ruhr-University of Bochum, and hosted by the Chair for Social Inequality and Gender (Professor Ilse Lenz) and the Heinrich-Böll-Foundation. It focused the distribution of life chances, procured by the education-system and the labour-marked in connection with the welfare-state and with special regards to the aspects of migration and gender as categories of complex social inequalities. Besides the further development of analytical approaches, a central goal of the contributions made by international scholars was to point out new political scopes for design." (author's abstract)
