(Autorenreferat)... view less

"All over the world, women's organisations try to improve the legal situation of women and girls. They succeeded in that many international norms were passed. Nevertheless the implementation of these agreements on national and local levels is still a challenge. All over the world, political and religious authorities try to prevent the realization of women’s rights. Therefore the exchange and networking of women's rights activists is very important. The Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) aims at improving the dialogue among activists. Every third year AWID organizes a big international forum for debates. Representatives of women's organisations from all continents meet there and discuss structural difficulties and problem solving strategies. This article explains those central topics on which more than 2000 women's rights activists were focusing at last year's conference in Cape Town." (author's abstract)... view less
