(Autorenreferat)... view less

"This article discusses processes of transnational networking from an interactionist perspective in the context of juvenile communities. The example of two groups of graffiti artists will be used to show how freely established relationships of choice can develop in spite of cultural barriers. The article will elaborate how, in light of community-related action orientation, social differences lose their importance for the actors who take part in the social interaction. Instead there is continuous acquirement and development of diverse intercultural competences which are regarded as a vital resource for cooperative action. Finally, it will be discussed whether and to what extent the associated social practices can be interpreted as 'youth culture'." (author's abstract)... view less
