(Autorenreferat)... view less

"In this article, ties of friendship between students who attend an all-day school in Austria, which is compulsory for all registered children, are analyzed. The major characteristics of these schools are a rhythmic school life, a progressive educational culture and regular changes in work and leisure time. The first question this paper answers is how relevant an all-day school is in terms of the development of friendship. Secondly, it is determined whether friendship can also emerge from study groups in school. Finally, the question of whether an all-day school is an appropriate place for social siblings is addressed. The results of this study are based on qualitative group interviews with 32 children between the age of 10 and 13." (author's abstract)... view less
