"Der Beitrag bringt einen Aufriss der von der Aufklärung bis in die Gegenwart reichenden Strafrechtsreform. Hierbei dienen Cesare Beccaria und Michel Foucault als Zeitzeugen, Kritiker wie Impulsgeber und Oktanten: Die Re-Lektüre ihrer Arbeiten ermöglicht, die gesellschaftliche Funktion von Strafe, den Übergang von der Straf- zur Disziplinargesellschaft, die Substitution des legalistischen Strafdiskurses durch einen politischen, pragmatisch-polizeilichen Kontroll- und Überwachungsdiskurs nachzuzeichnen."
