(Autorenreferat)... view less

"Fostering sustainable mobility is considered a pre-eminent goal for the future development of cities. Within 'Smart City' scenarios Advanced Traveller Information Systems (ATIS) are envisioned as tools that are expected to enhance more environment-friendly mobility behavior. But: Whether ATIS can meet these expectations has not been investigated systematically yet. As a result, the transdisciplinary research project 'ITS works' examined the impact of travel information acquisition on mobility behavior using the example of a new multi-modal traveller information system for the Vienna region called AnachB.at. While a Delphi study explored how ICTs like ATIS shall be socially and technologically embedded in the future, a 'test-setting' was implemented to gain insight into the users' perspectives. The results demonstrate on what terms ATIS can affect mobility behavior." (author's abstract)... view less
