(Autorenreferat)... view less

"Based on the institution of Europeans Works Councils (EWC) the question of the relationship of legally and contractually introduced participation is discussed. After the agreement on the EC guideline 95/45 Works Councils were introduced in several hundred Europe-wide enterprises. On paper they are equipped with information - and consulting rights. In practice different types have evolved. From purely symbolic EWC which have no meaning to EWC that really practise co-determination. These have developed into negotiating parties opposite management and already achieved broader co-determination agreements. The question is discussed, which conditions put works council representatives in the position to conclude such negotiations." (author's abstract)... view less
