(Autorenreferat)... view less

"Shared time management represents a challenge for families because of increasing demands and processes of de-limitation within the domains of labor, living and education. A survey of 10-year-old children (n = 50, photo interviews), and of their parents (n = 71, problem-centered interviews), was carried out in an urban and a rural Austrian region, contextualized in the framework of a qualitative study on family strategies in managing and making use of time. The results indicate a level of dissatisfaction among children and their parents with respect to the extent of time available for families. This report elaborates how common family time is managed, what factors of influence are being perceived to be relevant, and what differences persist between urban and rural regions. Photo interviews prove to be an expedient survey instrument for interviewing children." (author's abstract)... view less
