(Autorenreferat)... view less

"This study focuses on the testing of the Adolescent Time Perspective Inventory (ATPI) in a German sample. Theoretically, we argue that for adolescents' development as well the evaluation of the past, the future, and the present is relevant. It is investigated if the theoretically postulated scales for measuring young people's time perspective in a multidimensional way can be replicated in our sample. Furthermore, the respectively positive and negative evaluations of the past, the present and the future were used for the analytic formation of profiles describing different types of time perspectives using Latent Profile Analyses (LPA). These profiles were analyzed regarding the correlation with various aspects of personal development and school experiences. Data basis is a study consisting of almost 1.700 adolescents. Results show a high validity and reliability of the six investigated scales of the ATPI. Latent Profile Analyses results in six different types of adolescents varying regarding their evaluation of the past, the present and the future. The profiles describe as well optimistic as pessimistic and ambivalent attitudes, which show clear relation with the analysed personal traits and aspect of school experiences."
