"The following article reviews important research and theories in the framework of divorce prediction from a psychological perspective. Studies since the earliest attempts to predict divorce are presented and discussed in regard to their power of the prediction of a negative marital development and marital dissolution. The results support the notion that the knowledge on crucial predictors for divorce is empirically broadly founded. However, a great need for a more pronounced and integrative theoretical analysis is evident It is also suggested in this paper to stimulate a more integrative research activity in the next years in order to include all the important predictors of divorce in one study. By doing this an even more accurate divorce prediction in a longer time framework may result." (author's abstract)... view less
