"The policy conference on developments in European services had five objectives: to discuss the findings of the latest research into the nature of contemporary work in European services; to highlight examples of good practice by the social partners in flexible employment, employee development and equal opportunities; to draw out the implications of these developments for national and EU-level policy formulation; to identify areas for continuing activities and initiatives to improve the quality of work in European service employment; to bring together companies, unions, policy makers, and researchers working in this field, for future collaboration. These objectives were in keeping with the strategic goals set at the Lisbon summit in March 2000." (excerpt)... view less
