"The wellness-sector is regarded as a boom-branch, and as an example for gradually establishing new services. In this scarcely studied field, little is known about the qualification requirements and the development of job-profile, dominated by middle-level qualifications. Under which circumstances is a professionalization of the person-centered-services likely? We studied drivers and obstacles in an empirical study for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research concerning the expectations and needs of wellness providers, their employees, and their customers. Empirical evidence suggests no increase of professionalization. Main obstacles for a further professionalization of these new wellness-jobs are the fragmented structure of the vocational training institutions and the low level of an institutionalization of high-quality training and further education."
