New trade unions, which do not belong to the post-communist trade union federation linked to the presidential party, have established themselves in the car plants. Not least due to pressure exerted by European works councils, and works councils and unions in domestic headquarters of the European companies, car producers have recognized the new unions and are trying to transfer European standards of industrial relations to Russia."
